Near Bend, Texas
I’ve been on my own for about a month now while my wife and kids are in Japan so I have a lot of free time to ride my motorcycle. Today I decided to ride north. That was pretty much the whole plan. I found a cool road that I’ve been wondering about, which starts in the town of Lampasas. I have seen the sign to Colorado Bend State Park many time but today was the first time I actually took it. It is really a gem of a road! Not many cars, some nice gentle twisties and today was fine weather hovering about 89 degrees F, with beautiful clouds in the skies. It was awesome!

Stormy Day for a Ride
A stormy day means it’s a good chance to wash the GS! I think I have only hand-washed Kiki once (the kids wanted to). I usually let the rain was her. Seem like that’s how a GS should be washed.
It was relatively warm today (yay Texas!) even though we are in the middle of December. Was so much fun riding around.
This is an awesome video!
Looking Out Over Inks Lake
I’m pretty lucky that I live on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, which has some really fun roads to ride. This morning I rode 1431 from our house in Cedar Park to Marble Falls, then up to Park Road 4, which goes past Longhorn Caverns State Park, and then on to Inks Lake State Park, where I took these photos. It was so much fun, that I turned around and rode the same way back home, and made it in time for lunch! It was a total of about 150 miles round-trip and a fantastic way to spend a Saturday morning.
This looks so great! Thanks, Troy, for posting this on your blog.
This would be a nice size motorcycle for cruising around town!
This is pretty awesome video! Someday I’d like to go there. I am so happy that people make these videos and share them with the world.
Besides being a lot clearer, my new glasses make it seem like I am a lot closer to the ground. Too bad it didn’t make my legs any longer! I still need to take care when putting my foot down at stops.
Took Kiki for a spin this afternoon and enjoyed the relatively warm Texas weather. Man I love riding a motorbike!!
I went for a nice ride to a favorite road of mine, Cow Creek. Before that I rode to Volente Beach and Lime Creek Road, which has some really tight hairpin turns. That was pretty fun, but not really my type of road. Cow Creek is definitely more my pace. And I saw cows!
